Trafficwerx NT Wins CCF NT Earth Awards 2025 – Traffic Management Project of the Year

We’re proud to announce that Trafficwerx NT has been awarded Traffic Management Project of the Year at the 2024 CCF NT Earth Awards, recognising our work on Downer Urban’s Asphalt Resurfacing Program 2024.

Raising the Bar in NT Traffic Management

This award celebrates our leadership in delivering complex traffic control across one of Darwin’s most challenging resurfacing programs. Partnering with Downer, our team managed multiple live traffic environments across key intersections and arterial roads, including Stuart Highway near the Amy J and Woolner intersections.

For the first time in the Urbans project, traffic management was required to function under live traffic conditions, significantly increasing both complexity and risk. This demanded meticulous planning, heightened vigilance, and seamless coordination across every night shift.

Innovation in Action – Safety First

Every shift required agility and precision, with up to three full triple-lane closures installed and removed per night. Our ability to stage, re-open, and adapt work zones in real time ensured both safety and mobility for motorists and pedestrians.

Key innovations included:

• Deployment of TMA Trucks for high-speed protection in live traffic environments
• Introduction of body cameras (in partnership with DLI) to protect traffic controllers and document incidents such as drunk or aggressive drivers
• Daily breathalyser testing to ensure every team member was fit for duty
• 24/7 support from a Traffic Management Designer (TMD), available both day and night to guide crews and resolve issues instantly
• Accessible pedestrian detours with lighting, signage, ramps, and spotter assistance for mobility needs

The result? Zero incidents, minimal disruption, and complete delivery on time — in one of the Northern Territory’s most complex urban works programs to date.
