National Road Safety Week (NRSW) serves as a poignant reminder of our collective responsibility in ensuring safer roads for everyone. From 5th to 12th May, Trafficwerx NT proudly stood alongside this nationwide initiative, advocating for responsible driving and honouring those affected by road accidents.
Driving Change: A Weekend of Commitment
Our NT Chairperson, Chris Boyer, recently attended the Tasmania Launch of National Road Safety Week in Hobart. Alongside esteemed figures like Peter Frazer, President of SARAH Group, and government representatives, Chris emphasised the theme “All road safety is local – Drive So Others Survive.” It’s a reminder of our individual roles in making roads safer for all.
A Symbol of Remembrance: The Yellow Ribbon Campaign
The yellow ribbon isn’t simply a symbol; it’s a heartfelt tribute to lives lost and affected by road accidents. As part of National Road Safety Week NRSW, SARAH Group encourages us to drive responsibly, ensuring every journey prioritises safety. Let’s honour the past and protect the future by driving so others survive.
Inspirational Voices in Road Safety
In March, Trafficwerx NT had the privilege of meeting Peter Rubinstein and Peter Fraser, dedicated individuals enhancing road safety in Australia. Their commitment to responsible driving inspires us all, highlighting the importance of collaboration in creating safer roads.
Taking the Pledge: Committing to Safer Driving
We pledge to drive as if our loved ones are on the road ahead. This pledge encompasses removing distractions, never using mobile phones while driving, avoiding risky behaviours like speeding or driving under the influence, and protecting vulnerable road users.
Empowering Conversations Through Creativity
National Road Safety Week colouring sheets offer a creative way to discuss road safety with young ones. Through fun designs and discussions about safe road practices, we empower children with the knowledge they need to stay safe.
Join the Movement: Display the Yellow Ribbon
Whether personally or professionally, displaying the yellow ribbon symbolises commitment to road safety. Join us in spreading the message to drive so others survive by proudly wearing the ribbon and being part of the movement for safer roads.
Road Safety Beyond a Week: Continuing the Conversation
As National Road Safety Week concludes, let’s remember that road safety is a continuous responsibility. Our NRSW merchandise will be available throughout May, encouraging ongoing awareness. Together, through creative outlets and visual reminders, we can drive change and make road safety conversations easier.
Trafficwerx NT emphasises its dedication to promoting road safety and supporting initiatives like National Road Safety Week and the SARAH Group. Through collaboration and commitment, we can create safer roads for everyone. Please take the pledge and join us in a commitment for safer roads, now, during NRSW, and always.

At the crack of dawn, as the sun began its ascent, members of Trafficwerx NT were already buzzing with anticipation for what promised to be an enlightening day at the TMAA Annual Conference. With industry leaders and experts converging to discuss the latest developments and challenges in temporary traffic management, the stage was set for a day of learning, networking, and inspiration.
The morning kicked off with an energising welcome from the ever-charismatic MC, Nigel Domann, setting the tone for the day ahead. As we sipped our coffee and engaged in conversations, Matthew Bereni, CEO of TMAA, took the stage, offering insights into the state of the industry and setting the agenda for the day.
One of the highlights of the morning sessions was Simon Kuestenmacher’s masterclass on “Temporary Traffic Management in the context of the evolving Australian Workforce.” His blend of knowledge and humour captivated the audience, making it a personal favourite for many of us at Trafficwerx NT. Kuestenmacher’s insights shed light on the intersection of demographics and traffic management, sparking conversations that continued throughout the day.
As the day progressed, we delved into a myriad of topics, from national harmonisation to innovative traffic management technologies. The sessions were not only informative but also thought-provoking, prompting us to consider new approaches and solutions to the challenges facing our industry.
Amidst the sessions and networking breaks, it was evident that Trafficwerx NT was out in full force. From senior management to office staff and traffic controllers, our team was actively engaged, soaking in the wealth of knowledge and expertise on display.
The afternoon brought even more excitement, with presentations on real-time lane closure systems, digital innovations, and a captivating panel discussion on the best innovations from the ATSSA’s Annual Convention. The exchange of ideas and experiences was invaluable, reinforcing our commitment to driving positive change in the field of traffic management.
At the heart of it all was a shared mission – to make roads and road work safer for all. The discussions around initiatives like the Austroads National Framework underscored the collective dedication to this cause, leaving us inspired and motivated to play our part.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Matthew Bereni and the entire TMAA team for orchestrating another successful Annual Conference. As we look to the future, we envision a landscape of traffic management that is bigger, better, and safer – a future that we at Trafficwerx NT are proud to be a part of.
As Trafficwerx NT, we were thrilled to attend the TMAA Welcome Drinks on Thursday, 14th March, which marked the beginning of the highly anticipated TMAA Conference. Dressed in our matching fluorescent tropical shirts, we added our own touch of humour to the event, paying homage to our tropical Darwin roots and the Northern Territory’s distinctive PPE style.
Hosted at the TMAA Exhibition in the Benowa Foyer, the evening was filled with vibrant energy, networking opportunities, and insightful speakers. Though the dress code was “safe casual,” we couldn’t resist the chance to participate in the “best dressed” competition, sponsored and judged by A1 Roadlines Pty Ltd.
Competing for the prize of TradeMutt vouchers, the competition was fierce. We were delighted when Jude from Workzone Traffic Management stole the spotlight with her dazzling PPE dress. Our own team members also made waves, with our supervisor Chris Pettit donning a whimsical witch’s hat costume and our safety pawfficers, Kali and Chocky, charming the crowd with their stop and slow bandanas, securing second and third prizes respectively.
Beyond the excitement of the competition, the Welcome Drinks provided us with invaluable opportunities to connect and collaborate with industry leaders. Stands from companies like Traffio, Mitsubishi, Innov8, and RPM Hire showcased the latest innovations and facilitated discussions on pressing industry issues.
The evening’s programme featured opening speeches from the Conference MC, TradeMutt representatives, and A1 Roadlines Pty Ltd, setting the stage for engaging discussions and sessions planned for the conference. As anticipation grew for the upcoming TMAA Excellence Awards, we enjoyed mingling and networking, forging new connections and strengthening existing partnerships.
Held at the prestigious Royal Pines Resort in the Gold Coast, the TMAA Welcome Drinks provided the perfect setting for both professional networking and casual camaraderie. We were proud to be part of an event that celebrated the dedication and passion of the traffic management community, fostering knowledge-sharing, celebration of achievements, and inspiration.
As the evening concluded, we reflected on the success of the event, grateful for the opportunity to participate and excited to carry the momentum into the rest of the conference. We extend heartfelt thanks to Matthew and the entire TMAA team for organising such an incredible evening. We look forward to future gatherings and continued collaboration within the industry. In summary, the TMAA Welcome Drinks was not only a celebration of the traffic management community but also a testament to the spirit of innovation, camaraderie, and excellence that defines our industry.
